In the kindergarten years, students are introduced to the basic elements of line, color, shape, and texture. These elements are learned through viewing activities and then applied to their artwork. Students participate in many art-making experiences utilizing a range of materials. In addition to drawing and painting, students participate in printmaking, collage, sculpture, and paper manipulation. They also develop a range of techniques and vocabulary to enhance their art-making skills. Through trips and discussions, students see that the visual arts are a part of their lives and of their community.
