RE-IMAGINE – The 20th Annual Art Exhibition by Students of The Art Studio Mumbai

Re–Imagine began as a question — what happens when we invite artists of all ages to rethink what they know, to turn ideas upside down, and to make the familiar strange again? The answers now fill these walls — loud, layered, glittering, thoughtful, chaotic, and completely their own.

This year, we’ve also gone gloriously maximalist — because why whisper when you can sing in colour? You’ll see it in every over-the-top texture, every glitter storm, every fearless combination of ideas and materials.

Maximalism, for us, isn’t excess for its own sake; it’s abundance as honesty. It’s the joy of seeing imagination spill over the edges, uncontained and unapologetic.

From young children reimagining classroom prompts to adults finding quiet fulfilment in rediscovered creativity, every artwork here celebrates process, personality, and play. Our new collaborations — where students’ free-expression drawings have been handed to practicing artists for reinterpretation — add yet another layer to this beautiful chaos: a conversation between raw impulse and refined response.

And somewhere between the installations, and canvases, you might catch a reflection of yourself — curious, layered, reimagining too.

Here’s to 20 years of thinking, making, unmaking, and daring to see differently. And yes — we’re still finding glitter in our hair.
