Abstract artist Ashutosh Apte will lead an “Abstract Painting Using Letter Forms” workshop, open to older children and adults. This session will introduce participants to innovative ways to use letters in abstract art, highlighting the expressive potential of letterforms beyond their linguistic function.
Artist Contributor Bios – Ashutosh Apte
Ashutosh Apte, a former student of Sir J. J. School of Art, is a versatile contemporary artist who works across painting, installation, and performance. A seasoned Marathi writer, Apte has also made significant contributions in drama direction, design, and teaching. His conceptual approach has led to impactful projects, including directing a large-scale performance centered on letters in Kolkata, which involved 1,500 participants. Apte’s creative vision extends to socially conscious work, such as designing a sexual health and information art gallery in Mumbai’s red-light district. His artwork has been exhibited at prestigious venues like the National Gallery of Modern Art, Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, and galleries in Lucknow and Kerala, among others. Apte is also the author of Aptyachi Pane and has made his mark in theater through the writing, designing, and directing of various one-act and full-length plays. Additionally, he has shared his insights as a columnist for the Marathi newspapers Samana and Prahar.
