PURNIMA SAMPAT
A highly experienced educator and artist, Purnima Sampat is the Founder and Director of The Art Studio Mumbai. She develops the curriculum, trains the teachers, and is the driving force behind this creative art program. With a master’s degree in Fine Art, qualification in ceramics and screen printing, and a degree in Mathematics, Purnima Sampat was teaching art at the J.B. Petit School in Fort for 28 years. She has also taught and consulted for IB/IGCSE programs in schools across India.
As an elected world councilor at the InSEA (International Society for the Education through the Arts – an arm of UNESCO), she has represented S.E. Asia and Pacific at the world forum from 2011 – 2014.
She has been on the advisory board of NCERT and has contributed significantly to the Arts Integrated Learning Program which is implemented across schools in India and has conducted programs to train master trainers at Shillong, Mysore and Delhi, and various other centers across India.
Purnima Sampat has also been a guest lecturer and visiting faculty at various institutes across the world, the Paine Art Museum, Jefferson Public School, Old Trail School, the University of Wisconsin in the US. She has also written and presented several papers on art education at various international art education conferences in the USA.
She has conducted several interesting art programs and workshops for children and adults at prestigious institutes and festivals in India– at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), and NGMA, and contributed articles to various publications.
In her belief that all children are gifted with inborn creativity, Purnima Sampat has developed art projects for several NGOs such as Bal Anand, Akanksha, CRY, Pratham, and Point of View.
Purnima Sampat, the founder, and director of the studio is a professional artist who has taught Art and Design in India as well as the US of A for more than 30 years. She has helped students prepare portfolios for specialist fields in art, design and architecture with consistently excellent results.
In 2009, Purnima started Art4All at Marine Drive, Mumbai. Within a few years, due to an ever-increasing interest in the preparation of art, design, and architecture portfolios from students in Mumbai and across the globe, she started The Art Studio Mumbai.

EXPERIENCE:
- Art Teacher, J.B. Petit High School since 1986 - 2014, having taught classes from KG-Grade Moderator for ICSE art papers for the board.
- Visiting lecturer for Art History at THINC, International College, affiliated to Champlain College, USA, since 2003.
- Developed and Conducting Teacher Training Courses for aspiring art teachers since 2015.

Corporate workshops conducted for Essar Group, Cartoon Network and Asian Paints, Aditya Birla Group:
- Served as committee member for the Kala Ghoda Art Festival 2001 and 2002, Ladies’ Wing, Indian Merchant Chambers, 2003, Kal Ke Chitrakaar 2005, for developing and conducting creativity programs.
- Worked with Morcrafts for their Kala Ghoda Fair, 2002, to develop and conduct workshops with local crafts people on traditional crafts.
- Lectured extensively on various topics of art at Mohile Parikh Centre, NCPA, St. Xaviers’ College, J.J.School of Art, Mumbai, NGMA, Bombay Natural History Society.
- Conducted body-mapping workshops for HIV+ women for TICA, Japan.
- Conducted children’s workshops for the POGO channel in Delhi, Kolkota, Bangalore and Mumbai.
- Worked with NGOs such as Bal Anand, Akanksha, CRY, Pratham, Point of View for development of art projects.
- Developed the art curriculum for Pidilite Industries, Kangaroo Kids group of schools, Akanksha Foundation, and NCERT for CBSE school.
- Expert panelist for school curriculum for art developed by Pidilite.
- Lectured at MSCERT conference and various private school on Integrating Art with the Curriculum.

- Authored the book, LOOK LEARN DO, an interactive book about Indian artists.
- Authored the teacher’s manuals for the books published by Paramparik Karigar on crafts of India.
- Authored a series of books ‘I am an artist’ for primary children for CBM publishers.
